Since 2005 Boreal Shipping, acting as ship broker, forwarder and ship agent for one of the largest metallurgical companies – Severstal, has been transporting shiploads of ferromanganese (each about 3000 mtns) from ports of Dunkirk , France and Mo I Rana, Norway to port of Cherepovets , Russia . Two schemes of transportation are implemented:
1) during summer-autumn period - by sea to port of St. Petersburg and then through Volgo-Baltiiskii Channel to port of Cherepovets. Total transit time abt 14 days
2) during winter period through port of Arkhangelsk and then, after transshipment of the entire lot ex ship holds onto railcars, by rail to Cherepovets. Due to well-coordinated work between Boreal team and port workers the entire transshipment process in Arkhangelsk takes no more than 3-4 days. Total transit time is abt 11 days.
It takes about 24 hours to complete customs transit formalities in both schemes. This is an example of one of the advanced logistic schemes used by our company to transport cargoes ex European and Scandinavian countries.
We have developed and successfully implemented numerous transportation schemes for all kinds of cargoes (including extradims and heavyweight) ex ports of Europe, China, S.Korea and USA through port of Arkhangelsk, being an all year navigation port, and then by rail, on river-sea vessels and by barges deeper into Russian territory, including Nenetz Autonomous Region, Yamal, Ural area, Siberia and Far-eastern region.
